Her congeniality and professionalism was and is greatly appreciated. Besides running a translation service, she does pro-bono work as an interpreter for "documented" Mexican immigrants.

Thomas is the son of handicapped parents. He and the author have known one another ever since the boy was born. In first grade, he was given a copy of TRWRR, and with help of neighbors and friends, he learned to read. Although oft encouraged to take up acting, he opted to pursue his academic interests and enter the business world instead.

Thomas, author of TRWRR and founder of Totally Literate, served in the Army in Vietnam with a recon unit. A few years after military service, he began writing TRWRR. Then after acquiring necessary teaching credentials, he began teaching in NYC. To get the full scope of the reading problem, he taught children in every grade—from 1st to 12th—plus adults in night school.
