TRWRR Stories — MS Word

These PDFs must be exported to Microsoft Word. (Click here to learn how.) They consist of 4 files containing all the stories of The Red Well-Read Reader in both English and Spanish. Altogether there are 456 pages. And on nearly every side-by-side page view there is at least one pen-and-ink cartoonish drawings.

The purpose of these dual-language files is to make comparing English, as well as Spanish, side by side with virtually any other language spoken the world over.

Steps to get into side-by-side view

  1. Click "View" on the MS Ribbon.

  2. Then, from the new window, click "Multiple Pages."

  3. ​With the Ctrl button depressed, move the wheel of your mouse forwards or backwards until your screen shows a 2-page view.

​*Depending on the file, you may need to insert a blank page in order for the two languages to appear opposite one another—that is the left page in English (verso) and the right page in Spanish (recto).

Steps to Compare Either English or Spanish with Another Language

  1. Decide whether you want English or Spanish to compare another language to.

  2. Then, with your mouse, select the opposite page. Eg., if you want to use English, select Spanish.

  3. Click Review in the Ribbon to get the Translate icon to appear.

  4. A User Interface will appear giving you the choice to "Translate the Selection" or "Translate the Document. Choose "Translate the Selection."

  5. Click Review on the Ribbon to make the Translate icon appear. 

  6. Click

For this illustration, Bulgarian was pre-seleted. If we want to change to a different language,  we simply click on the caret next to Romanian. When we do so, a long list will appear from which we can make our choice.

How to replace Spanish with Bulgarian.

  • Merely click Insert in the blue box.

  •  English and Bulgarian will be seen side by side.

  • And both languages may be Read Aloud, going from one language to the other seamlessly.
